Biography

Jocelyn Lee is a New York-based classical pianist and educator. She recently earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Stony Brook University, where she was appointed as a teaching assistant. Currently, she serves as adjunct faculty in piano at Five Towns College, Han’s Music Academy and Musik Colab.

Jocelyn began her musical studies early, attaining her Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal School of Music (LRSM) and Trinity College of Music (LTCL) at age 15. Two years later, she received a full scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Violin Performance at West Virginia University. Subsequently, Jocelyn earned a master’s degree at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. While in Indiana, she taught at Indiana University’s Pre-College program and accompanied IU Ballet before pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at New York University Steinhardt, where she was an instructor in Piano Studies.

As a dedicated music educator, Jocelyn has worked with students of different ages and musical background. She strives to maximize their potential and help them develop healthy practicing skills.
Her students have excelled in piano competitions, achieved ABRSM Distinction and NYSSMA Outstanding results. In addition to regular piano lessons, she has led studio classes, designed and conducted group theory classes, including the development of syllabi and course materials.

Aside from teaching, Jocelyn is an active performer who enjoys exploring creative projects and collaborating with fellow musicians. Her accolades include winning the West Virginia MTNA Competition, WVU Young Artist Competition, Presser Scholar Award, third prize in West Virginia International Piano Competition and Gold Prize at Asia International Piano Academy & Festival with Competition. She has also appeared as soloist with WVU Symphony Orchestra and Indiana University Ad-hoc Orchestra.

As a collaborative pianist, Jocelyn has performed and recorded extensively for competitions, pre-college submissions, juries, masterclasses and has recently served as a summer staff accompanist at USDAN. Together with her husband, Dr. Hanjin Sa, she co-founded Duo Pianorch – a piano duo dedicated to highlighting orchestral music on the piano. Committed to making classical music welcoming and accessible, Jocelyn has presented solo, chamber and collaborative recitals not only at notable concert halls but also in a variety of community settings—including libraries, hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants, cafés, and churches—bringing music to audiences beyond the traditional concert stage.

Jocelyn’s principal teachers include Christina Dahl, Gilbert Kalish, Eteri Andjaparidze, Emile Naoumoff, Peter Amstutz and P’ng Tean Hwa.
